The Babylon War

Bastante Solipsis Marquez chilled.  He saw the situation for what it was.  The old world was dying, the new was being born.  Now was the time of monsters.  Someone else said that, but Bastante couldn't remember who.  It was a good line.

The world crashed.  The Aquarian age squirted out.  It was gross, and fabulous all at once.  Good things and amazing things were drowned out in the din of awful and terrible things.  Hopes and dreams were crushed again and again forevermore, in an eternally damning cycle, but perseverance was as instinctive as shitting and after every soul-smushing letdown came another irrationally exuberant sense of hope.  The darkness was truly terrible to behold, but the brilliance was too brilliant to deny.  Doot dee fuckin doo.

Bastante stayed back.  Soon, all too soon the truth would be revealed and he would be exposed.  It was tense.  He smoked a lot of weed.  Too much, some would say.  But it kept him removed from the drama. At least that's what he told himself.  He meditated a lot too, of course.

...the Government.  Like a Kafka novel, insanity itself had grabbed power.  Bastante saw it this way-

In the ancient and timeless relationship between yang and yin, there is an undulation wherein yang expands and yin contracts.  Yang is competing with yin, and winning!  Or so it seems.  Yang competes with yin, who cooperates.  Yang wins, and consumes yin, and expands yang, and the harmony and the beauty of the relationship is lost, and the dance turns into a war.

Power Over as opposed to Power For.  Competition competes with cooperation, and wins.  In the short term, at least.  In a fear-based world of insecurity, the impetus to grab power comes from the desire to hold power over others, whereas coming from a love-based place of confident faith leads one to share power for the benefit of others.  Yang had seized power over yin, and yin shrank and dried up, and yang expanded and consumed, and yin withered and withdrew, and the Government ruled as a Power Over the People rather than a Power For the People.

This hierarchy of power is unsustainable.  The Pyramid of power, if you will, arises when people seize power for the purposes of power over others.  This is an unsustainable civilization.  A pyramid in which the base supports the pinnacle but the pinnacle exploits and consumes its base is a civilization that erodes and ultimately loses its base.  For the pinnacle of the pyramid - the ruling class, the class of privilege - to sustain itself, it must support its base.  A truly sustainable pinnacle must evolve into a Torus of power, wherein the top of the power pyramid exists to serve others, and in doing so cascades power back down to the bottom, revealing Power used For people as a more competitively sustainable civilizational model than Power used over people.  Thus does the pinnacle of a torus-modeled power hierarchy nourish and enrich the very base upon which it rests.  A power hierarchy still exists, and the ruling class still exists, and privilege still exists, but privilege is correctly perceived to be a responsibility, the responsibility of serving those less privileged.  Serving others makes us happy, and yang was happy to serve yin rather than consume her.

And so.  Government was undergoing the usual revolution, and power used over people was being taken back by the people, to be used for the people.  Yang had over-expanded, and found itself without enough fuel to keep consuming.  Empire was collapsing, as Empires do.

Empire was a power-over civilizational model, which made it unsustainable and destined to collapse.  Bastante could smell the wreckage and stayed clear.  It was still too soon to reveal himself.  The power-for model was up and running too, and although National Sovereign Republics were under siege in all corners of the world they were standing their ground and finding unlikely allies in one another.

...The Republic.  Bastante Solipsis Marquez believed in it, and fought for it.  Like a phoenix being born from its own ashes, the Republic was rising again.  Bastante poured his life into its rebirth.  Empire was consuming itself, and warring with all the republics of the world, but the republics were doing better than empire was, as one would expect with the Aquarian age splashing around.  Imperial Fascism was a terrible monster, with tentacles and fangs and central banks and nukes and entire 1st world armies as weapons, but the power-over model had failed to serve its base and in doing so had lost its base, and so Imperial Fascism was collapsing as the global republics cheered.  In the long term, cooperation is more sustainable than competition.  The world was being freed.

But the collapse was grotesque.  Imperial Fascism was not merely decadent but inhumanely cruel.  Everything from trafficking in children, weapons and organs to infertility vaccines, nanochip-brainwashing, and manufactured famines.  Empire was culling the herd of the old and the weak and the poor and the vulnerable and the noncompliant.

Yet those noncompliant republics were ever so noncompliant.  In the long term, competition competes with cooperation, and loses.  Slaves of empire yearn to live in republics!  Yang consumes itself, while yin endures, and the war of competition ends in a dance of cooperation.  The world would soon know peace, and be on its way to sustainable civilization.  Gardening and meditation would soon be the twin pillars of public education.

Hasta la victoria siempre.  Viva la revolution!

A clear mind for writing

Bastante Solipsis Marquez was full of nonlinear faith.  It was literally saving his grace.  Rational thought would present literally 'no way out' of identifying with thought patterns which led nowhere and forever chewed itself.  Bastante would nonrationally inhale, and simply be aware of the following nonrational processes that proceeded from such a radically incarnate act.  It was fascinating to behold, and it's all there ever was to behold, so good thing it was fascinating.  And from the incarnate sensations of breath and posture arises awareness of awareness itself, empty and fascinating and always presently aware, unnameable by nature, uncontainable in thought or language by nature, alive as though the mind itself was made of water being poured into water, as content arises and passes within an empty, content-free awareness.

The Mind is Alive.  This is the paradoxical truth of all language and all religions which are born thereof.  Language arises from Mind.  Language cannot experience Mind.

Religions are born of Language.  Religions point to, but cannot experience, Mind.

Somewhere in the Bible Jesus points out God is actually ever living, as in a Living God.  Better yet, God is Living.  Living experiences mind.  Breathing in and out experiences mind.  Breathing in and out experiences mind and doesn't give a shit one way or the other, the way elephants don't care about lions or hyenas.

Breathing in and out experiences mind, and breathing in and out is fully aware of itself as mind.

This is the mind experiencing mind as though water was being poured into water.

The endless train of thought.

What Siva told Sati

Oh shit.  nobody ever talks about this ever.
Fuck.  I'm sorry.  He said.
I wish I could run away but I can't.
I wish I could fly away but I won't.
I'm sorry.  I wish I could leave you alone
but I too much desire
to relate and communicate.
I'm totally capable of renouncing my desires, said the Mountaintop to the Sky.  Yes I can do that.  I just don't want to anymore.  I want to love.

I've conquered my desire to conquer the world.  And you know what happened while I was busy conquering my desires?  The world went a bit rudderless, if you ask me.  While I was off meditating and reincarnating in the subdepths of the bottomless water-dark worlds, the surface daytime of the Earth went to shit in a handbasket.  So now it's time to conquer the world.  Now its time to rise beyond the surface and begin a great wave of peace, and conquer conflict once again, the way it always happens. when it has to happen, every cyclical once-in-a-while.

I want to have fun in life, said the Bhakti Sadhu, I want to have a good time, and I know enough to know that for me to have a good time, everyone needs to have a good time.  It's all of us or none of us.  Because there's only one of us.  Which leaves no one to fear.

I don't want to avoid what I love anymore.

Krishna was the Godhead, and he was fun.  He liked to have fun.  He recognized the point of having fun:  Having fun was the point.  Love is the point.  The purpose of the created universe is love.  That's the point.  Everything else is fear, which is just getting in the way of the whole point and purpose of it all.

The timeless man screamed like a dragon into the empty void, knowing emptiness to be wise and loving and empty and death and deathless.

The Bhakti Sadhu knows there's only one of us, manifesting as all of us, and loves all of us as though there was only one of us and we're all related manifestations of the absolute divine.  This the play of lila, that 'life's a bitch but love is real' series we're always watching.

The Bhakti Sadhu was once merely a sadhu, and renounced the world in order to focus on the Sadhu aspect of things.  Then after a while he had a tremendous realization:  The world needed him.

He had never realized he was needed.  It changed everything.  In that moment, that moment of realizing he was actually papa bear and the world needed loving, he fell in love with life, renounced asceticism itself, became a devoted tantric yogi householder, and never forsook her again.  He had a family, and everyone was a relative.

This is how the ancient Sadhu became the Bhakti Sadhu:
From the long road of asceticism
was born the realization of truth,
the recognition of ignorance everywhere,
and the value of useful service -
being the light of truth, illuminating curious and ignorant samsara.

We choose to descend from the angelic realms of the stars in order to experience life on Earth as English-speaking, literate, internet savvy People.  That's what we're doing here, relatives.  We've chosen to descend from the higher-vibrational realms of the stars, in order to experience human life on Earth.  It's an extraordinary thing.  We are to be extraordinarily honored and blessed

The Rainbow War

First there was Sumer where the usury was-

Annunaki math.

Numbers are Archons, relatives-

Numbers are the nemesis of the Light.

Quantity is the antithesis of Oneness.

(The Nomos is the nemesis of the Logos. )

From ancient Sumer was born Babylon.

then came the Babylonian captivity, and the Judeans were sent away with usury.

Then came the Muslims, sworn to exterminate usury.

Then came the Templars, who used freemasonic usury to forge the modern West.

Then came WWI and II, which solidified freemasonic usury across the world.

Then came the gulf wars, which implanted usury in the middle east.

Along with usury came circumcision.  The scribes were 'cised.  Circum, that is.

The Nomos sure as hell is the nemesis of the Logos.

The Logic of Math is the cruelty of Rationality.

Rational self-interest is the suffering of the world.

Rational self interest leads to both usury and circumcision.

Profit and Logic.  The Logic of Profit.  The Profit of Logic.  Nomos and Logos.

Pain.

and Suffering.

Reptilian rational thinking was fucking with Life itself.  Something had to give.

The mind cannot find peace.  Peace returns to letting-go mind.

Letting go is illogical.  But it's the only way to be free of suffering.

The Logos contains with it both Light and Dark, both

Bastante Solipsis Marquez became free, and started the Rainbow War, and achieved total, complete, and imperishable victory before War even began, by completely and totally forgiving his enemies, which were just interdisciplinary fractals of his own insecure shadow.

There's only one of us, and its name is "All of Us."  Bastante saw all phenomena as a reflection of his own inner beliefs.  He saw his own inner nature everywhere he looked.  And so he started insisting upon seeing beauty everywhere.  And he started insisting upon believing in the best possible circumstances at all times, and in all circumstances.  And he insisted upon having the best possible time imaginable, all the time.

Bastante Solipsis Marquez was the reincarnation of Krishna.  He was the King of Good Times.  The Sat Yuga had begun.

Among other things, this abolished usury forever.

And moms and dads everywhere let their sons keep their bits.

And yes, relatives.  The healing-into-wholeness got sexual.

Duh.

the theta state in 5d

"Time is merely a measurement of change," thought Bastante to himself as he studied his own 4d body.

He inhaled, and the diameter of his abdomen increased.

He exhaled, and the diameter of his abdomen decreased.

His 3d body expanded and contracted through a fourth, temporal, dimension.

He was 4d, and knew it.  He welcomed himself to the fourth dimension.

This was the great secret to living a happy life, Bastante firmly believed.  Now existed in four dimensions, and was observing itself from a fifth.  Being here now was far more demanding than any full-time job - it was a 24 hour endless experience of the miraculously divine.  He felt like he had the best job in the world, only he didn't make much money from it.  But he actually avoided money, since it seemed so exploitative.  So he did actually have the best job in the world, he realized.  He existed now, observing everything, aware of everything, noticing everything, feeling everything, watching it all change over and over again, watching the watcher change even, noticing patterns, observing karma, cultivating gratitude, learning of suffering, the greatest suffering of ignorance, and how to transcend all suffering.

Through meditation.  Bastante Solipsis Marquez was a dedicated meditator.

He sat and observed his own respiration.  Thoughts vanished,  Ego vanished, and God remained.
Observe your own respiration, dear reader, and allow every exhalation to be the emptying of the vessel that is your mind...

Time is Energy

Time is energy.

Bastante Solipsis Marquez knew it, and overstood Now to be the moment of power.

Bastante lived in the now.  He was in love.

He loved life; he loved breathing in and out and moving around in a body.  He loved the sun coming up in the morning and the stars coming out at night.  He loved trees and the earth and most people and usually a good thing or two happened during the day that reminded him of the importance of loving others.

Attitude, breath, and posture.  These were the keys to success, he had decided.  The Buddha had said something along those lines, he knew; something about right thought, right speech, and right action.  They seemed to correlate, more or less.

Bastante had suffered much in life, as have we all, and after great debate he had decided to overlook it.  No fear, no hurt, no suffering.  There was only time, which was energy.  His work was to always face the now fearlessly and peacefully, with confidence, compassion, and cool.

Anticipation.  Bastante's task (as is ours, dear reader) was to face each day, each moment of now, with appreciation and anticipation.  We must believe that life is good and gets better, for the mind is a feedback loop in relationship with the cosmos.  Thoughts are things, and the thoughts we put out are the things we get back.

Bastante had grown up reading the Bible, but he had never overstood the part where Jesus comments :  "To those that have, more will be given, but to those that have not, even what they have will be taken away,"  until he heard of the Law of Attraction.  The Law of Attraction says that we get what we give:  Our mind is constantly churning out thoughts, and if our mind is constantly grateful for the depth of beauty, love, and interdependence found throughout human life then we continue to receive even more.  But if our mind is ungrateful, or even unaware, of the miracle of life then we receive no miracles in our lives.

Jesus could have said, "To those that feel they have, more will be given, but to those who feel they have not, even what they have will be taken away."  Thoughts are things, and these thought-things carry a gravitational charge, seeking a match.  Putting out good thought-things brings back good experiences, and putting out good thought-things that radiate gratitude for abundance brings back more abundance.

Bastante knew that Christian Conservatives would kill him if he ever tried to preach the gospel of the Law of Attraction.  Jesus had gotten himself killed for preaching it, among other things, apparently.  It seemed that nobody in power wants us to know that thoughts are things, because if we start mastering our thoughts, the market won't profit from endless craving anymore.

As it turns out, the market profits from selling remedies for suffering.  None of these remedies work, however.  Suffering still exists.  The only cure for suffering lies within our minds:  we must experience suffering with a positive and nonattached attitude, full of faith that life is good and gets better.  If we don't believe it, we have to fake it till we make it.  Bluff bluff bluff.  Even in the midst of great suffering, great agony, great hurt and the deepest of wounds being torn open, we must accept that life is good and gets better and appreciate the value of living through such powerful, transformative experiences.

The market cannot sell us a positive attitude, and with a positive attitude, it turns out we don't have that much use for the market.  Spiritual truth was bad for business, and preaching the truth got people killed.  Like Jesus.  So Bastante laid low.  He was like Hamlet, pretending to be a harmless goofball, looking for a way to end the tyranny of the Man.

Anyway, being confident, compassionate, and cool was easier said than done.  Bastante faked it constantly.  Training the mind was like training a mule, he knew, and success came only by being more consistent, more determined, and more stubborn than the mule.  Bastante's mind would rebel against this artificially induced positivity every chance it got, and leap violently into pits of victimhood, insecurity, and self-limitation.  It was an old habit that had served him well.

There was nothing to do but pull the mind out of the bad-thought-pit, against its will and in defiance of the very personality inhabiting it, and set it back on the path of gratitude, humility, and acceptance.  Like a bucking bronco the mind would fight - the ego itself would perish if its cherished negative behavior patterns were successfully discarded!

Yet Bastante saw these patterns as counterproductive, and worked diligently to eradicate these enshrined, self-sabotaging neuroses.  He witnessed his own personality change, as an ego perished and another was born, over and over again.  It was much like watching a cloud in the sky; one minute it looks like a spaceship, and the next minute it looks like an elephant doing a kegstand, then you blink and its some kind of birthday cake, and then...

I Am is always changing, for I Am is change.  I Am observes I Am just as water is poured into water.  Bastante knew himself to be an artificially constructed personality, self-created for purposes of categorization. He himself was beyond categorization; he was infinite.  He knew that this self-categorization was inherently artificial and ultimately limiting; the only thing about him that didn't change was his name.  And sometimes his smell.  And even they changed, too, occasionally.

But anyway.  It was time to go to work.  Bastante folded his legs, sat up straight, and began observing respiration sensations on the small patch of skin beneath the nostrils and above the upper lip.  Slowly, his mind quieted, became silent, and let go, and emptiness dawned like the Sun...

Bastante Solipsis Marquez remained addicted to samsara.  He remained addicted to samsara  because he wanted to live.

Bastante clung to life.  It was his most basic, primordial desire:  To live.  He survived, childishly and selfishly putting the needs of his ego before anyone else, and in surviving he cultivated a base defiance of that which challenged and threatened his survival.  His ego refused to let go of preconceived realities.

He grew egotistical.  That which challenged his ego felt personally threatening.  He could not bear surprises that shook the ground of his identity; who he believed himself to be.  He identified with self.
His very survival felt so tenuous; he did not know if he would live or die.  It made him paranoid, and frightened of death.

He did not know if he would exist or cease to exist; he felt terrified.  He saw his addiction to self and knew the Buddha had taught anatta, no-self.

He knew he needed to practice no-self.  He knew he was bad at it; having spent years grasping at self he saw how hard it was to unlearn bad habits.  He knew his self was not very bueno.

He wanted to kill the ego; the insecure bully who kept sabotoging his life was ruining all of his best chances at happiness.  He yearned to put a gun to his head but he knew better. He yearned to put a knife to his dreadlocks and thought about it long and hard.

It was so hard to create and so easy to destroy.  He did not want to destroy his ego, after all.  Wasn't there any other way?

The rainbow war

Bastante Solipsis Marquez was gallant.  He drove an old van across the vastness of the American West and grew dreadlocks.  That was how he liked it.

Sometimes he drove with ganja from California.  Sometimes he drove with peyote from Mexico.  Every now and then he would carry human cargo from one place to another.  Most of the time he drove with nothing at all.

He liked to drive.  It was like riding a great horse.  He would drive endlessly for days.  It suited him.  He was an anachronism, unsuited for office work or profiteering.

Bastante desired above all else to tear apart the past with his fingernails, to undo what had already been done and start over.  It was impossible, and he knew it.  So he languished in anguish.  He repeated patterns, noticing how history never repeated itself yet always seemed to rhyme.   He learned from his own karma, and grew disgusted with himself.

Slowly, he matured.

Bastante had discovered his own past lives through acid, dmt, psychedelic mushrooms, and vipassana meditation.  He had seen his own past lives, and they were embarrassing.  He was embarrassed to be human.  He only felt comfortable around humble people.  People who felt good about themselves, people who believed that they deserved their humanness, left him feeling awkward and humiliated.  He shunned society.

Bastante practiced yoga, and meditated.  On good days he stayed sober, and the rest of the time he was stoned.  He spoke to the stone people, and hugged trees for the psychological benefits.  He had late romantic nights with the stars.  He found hot springs that no one else knew about, and never told anyone.  He loathed money, and depended on it.

Bastante loved life, and despised the chains he chose to carry.  He despised his own bad choices, and learned to live with his own sorry ass self.  Nothing ever worked but perpetual forgiveness - of his own deep flaws and everyone else's.  It was a sad state of affairs but then what else was new.  Got lemons?  Make lemonade.  Bastante drove across the west to keep from driving himself mad.

Bastante grew old learning to forgive himself, and then grew older learning how to outgrow bad habits.  He discovered his own pessimism, his own fatalistic and depressing outlook towards life.  He saw that his own failure as a family man, as a householder, a committed and responsible person looking out for something other than #1 in his life, was due largely to his own victim mentality.  'Poor me' Bastante couldn't help but get the short end of the stick.  He saw himself in the mirror, and it shocked him.  He grew outraged, and evolved.

'Poor me' Bastante decided to be brave, and accept responsibility.  It was terrifying, life-threatening even, but still a decided improvement over perpetual victimhood.  He was happy for taking the step.  But bravery had its own problems.  It was easier to be brave than it was to be cool.  Bastante set out to be brave and came back uptight.

He forgave himself.  Lots of brave movements end up uptight.  Look at the Republican party.  Or Israel, for crying out loud.  Bastante saw what was he was up against, and pondered his next steps.

He knew he needed to surf.  But he was in the frigging desert.  What to do?  He hatched a plan.

He would be brave.   But he would not be uptight.  He would be nonchalant, and optimistic, and good humored, and nonattached, and chivalrous, even.  He would find a cause, and devote himself to it.  but he would not get uptight over it.  He would be brave, and positive, and not take himself too seriously.  Bravery and positivity were actually the same thing, he realized.  Positivity was, and is,  the greatest bravery.  And so he chose to be positive, even as everything he held dear poised on the brink of annihilation.  He grew stoic, and confident.  Not because he felt either, but because he felt responsible for faking it.

And what does a mature, stoic, good-humored confidence look like?  Bastante found a word, and stuck with it.

Bastante Solipsis Marquez chose to be gallant.

What else could he do?  He led a romantic life, devoted to the philosophical ideal of hope.
"There is a way," he would say to anyone who would listen, and after a long time he began to believe it.  Whether it was true or not didn't matter.  If he believed it, it would come to pass.

And he thought.  And he thought.  And he thought.

What would make the difference?  What would heal the suffering of the world?

Bastante rose one day and knew.  He saw the path.  He chose it, or it chose him.  The way was clear, and called him.  It was a wonderful marketing opportunity.

Bastante went into business promoting hemp dollars.  He became a hemp dollar promoter.  He saw the way forward before anyone else made it plain, and he led the way.

Much later he would be heralded as one of the great chiefs of the Rainbow War, but that was too far in the future for him to see, or care.   He simply chose his mission, and determined to fake it till he made it.

And that was all.  Surely, that would be enough for any man-

Friday, January 10, 2014

Bastante Solipsis Marquez was one of the great peace chiefs of the Rainbow War, but he didn't feel great or chiefy all that much.  Most of the time he fought cravings to smoke ganja and retire to the forest.  The forest was a rotten place to get laid but it was a great place to avoid the misery of modern civilization.

Bastante was not a fan of mainstream civilization.  The pollution, the ruination of the waters and the woods and the destruction of nature, the ignorant public, the propaganda, the lack of intelligence in social organization, the deliberate hijacking of innate human wisdom for the purposes of material power, the total absence of an empowered humanity... it made him somewhat nauseous if he thought about it too much.

Bastante had stopped smoking ganja because it prompted him to retire from society.  He felt responsible for doing something about the situation, and smoking just encouraged him to walk away into the woods and let someone else deal with it.

There was reason for positivity, he felt - the war was raging all around him and ganja was becoming legal.  This was reshaping the world, he knew, not because stoned people were going to foment social revolution but because the ganja plant would produce food, fuel, clothing, shelter, medicine, and recreation while healing mother earth.  This would happen under the rubric of
'being good for the economy'.  Jobs would be created, millions of jobs, and the labor intensive process of growing hemp would provide meaningful employment and right livelihood for entire populations around the world.

And stoned people were fomenting revolution, after all, he thought with a smile.  Nonviolently, peacefully, with lots of dancing and singing, huge numbers of people were  walking away from the rat race and all its various hypocrisies in order to embrace a way of life which affirmed the sanctity of our planet and all life on it.  Before we ever vote with our pocketbook we vote with our attention and Bastante was watching the world turn its back on the money power of babylon in order to more fully represent and inhabit the world as it is meant to be.

None of the newspapers reported, it, of course.  the newspapers were owned by the money powers, and were consequently forbidden from reporting on the revolution against the money powers.

Bastante wondered how it would all turn out.

DMT #1

Bastante Solipsis Marquez sat with Chief Niwot beside a church not far from the creek which came out of the mountains.

"Tell me about the DMT," said Chief Niwot.  He packed a bowl of herb.

"My first time smoking DMT I was by the creek with Rasta Daniel, " said Bastante.  He lit the bowl.

" I took a big rip as a dreadlock fell down in front of my face.  It caught fire, and I witnessed a flame shoot out of my third eye as ego dissolved."

He passed the bowl.  "Rasta Daniel said, what's it like?  and I said, its beginners mind.  Like the book, you know?  And He said, what's that?  And I pointed to a guy floating down the creek on an inner tube, and I pointed to the inner tube and I said, look.  And right as I pointed to the inner tube, it popped."

Chief Niwot raised an eyebrow as he puffed on the bowl.
 "what's beginner's mind?" he asked.

Bastante nodded.  "Perceivable phenomena, or reality, is perceived by the senses and collated, as it were, by the self-referencing ego.  The ego collates and integrates sensory input for assessment and response purposes, arbitrarily inventing an individual 'self'.

He continued:  "This is consciousness, or self-consciousness.  this is our thinking mind.  Far, far deeper within the subconscious lies an awareness that does not think, nor perceive, nor collate nor integrate.  This awareness is preconceptual, and may only be described as a wakeful emptiness."

"This empty wakefulness is the nature of all reality:  plants, trees, stars, machines, people, mind, wind, and inner tubes.  The origin of all phenomena is emptiness, but not just that:  the origin of all phenomena is the same emptiness.  Deep within the heart of unconscious mind lies a nonlinear zero-point from which all coordinates in space-time are related, readily accessible, and perceived as not-other-than-self."

"We just can't think about it or know it, right?" laughed Chief Niwot.

"Or even talk about it accurately," agreed Bastante.  It bummed him out.

"Beginner's mind is the mind which dreams reality," said Chief Niwot, who was no fool.

"Exactly," said Bastante.  "Beginner's mind is empty mind, empty of all phenomena or bias and thus nonlocal.   Beginner's mind is everywhere at once, because beginner's mind is the cause of the very space-time which maps 'everywhere'.

"So you smoked DMT and merged into union with the dreamer of reality, wherein all perceivable reality was a facet of your consciousness,"  said Chief Niwot.  he was impressed.

'yup," said Bastante.  "I popped the inner tube with my mind, because the inner tube existed within my mind, because all reality is mind-made."

"yup," said Chief Niwot.

"yup," said Bastante.

they smoked in silence.

When Claudius Maximus was 17 he was arrested crossing the border with some Mexicans running heroin.

he got beat up by the highway patrol and thrown in a cell for five days.

the only cop he ever saw that five days - a huge man, filling the tiny doorway to a small solitary cell with a toilet that didn't work - told him that if the d.a. pressed charges they cold hold him for 90 days before his trial even, but if the d.a let him go they'd find a way to get him home.

After five days the huge cop filled the doorway and said, "guess what?"

"we got you for three months."

and the cop laughed and laughed, and Claudius got vertigo, and wept, and the cop spun and laughed, and said, "i'm kidding man, you're goin home."

And so, in an outdoor garden of a local herb shop in a small city nestled amongst the foothills of the great mountains of the West,  Claudius Maximus sat and shared a pipe and reminisced with Bastante Solipsis Marquez.

"it was a terrible and savage moment, I was so broken, and then so uplifted, it was both bad and good and transcended opposites, and I saw how each and every moment was terrible and beautiful and that human life was deliberately intended to bridge the gap between heaven and hell."

"The Tao rests within the heart of yin and yang," commented Bastante.

"Reality is totally empty,"  agreed Claudius.

"I am reminded of Zen,"  said Bastante.  "There is a story I heard once.  a great general went to see a Zen master.  He came within the presence of the Zen master and told him he had a problem.
"I had a little baby duck and a big glass jar.  When the duck was very little, I oiled it and slipped it through the neck of a glass jar.  I fed it daily with a long straw, and now it is far too big to escape and is trapped.  How do I get the duck of the glass jar?"

the Zen master replied, "General!  its out!"

the general was satisfied, and so was Claudius Maximus, and so was Bastante Solipsis Marquez.

They settled back, content with the emptiness of nonconceptual awareness.

"So how goes the war," inquired Claudius.

Bastante nodded.  "It's killing me.  But I've got an idea."

They hatched a plan.
